ONE Friday Fights 148 Results: Kongchai Grinds Out Khanzadeh, Denkriangkrai Makes It Five Straight
ONE Friday Fights 148 kept the heat on at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium this past Friday, March 27. Former Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion Kongchai Chanaidonmueang did it the hard way, digging deep across three grueling rounds to earn a unanimous decision victory over Iranian knockout artist Mehrdad "Black Wolf" Khanzadeh. Plus, in the co-main event, Denkriangkrai Mavinn Muaythai proved he belongs in the conversation for the life-changing US$100,000 contract, as he outworked the durable Valerii Strungari to make it five consecutive wins.
Kongchai Earns It The Hard Way
Kongchai Chanaidonmueang walked into the main event knowing exactly who he was dealing with – and Mehrdad "Black Wolf" Khanzadeh wasted no time making him prove it. The Iranian came out with power and purpose, storming forward with heavy punches and kicks that put Kongchai under immediate pressure in the opening frame. The Thai answered, meeting the aggressor's best shots with sharp counters and refusing to give ground.
The second round saw Kongchai take control. The southpaw began imposing himself, chasing Khanzadeh around the ring and willingly walking into counters to close the distance and work on the inside. It was not pretty, but it was effective.
It was the final round that delivered the most entertaining three minutes of the night. Kongchai uncorked an eight-punch combination, and Khanzadeh answered with spinning elbows and a spinning back kick that had the crowd on its feet.
When the final bell rang, all three judges had seen enough – the decision went to Kongchai, who improved his record to 78-16 and kept his contract push firmly alive.
Denkriangkrai Makes It Five In A Row
Denkriangkrai Mavinn Muaythai was supposed to face a stiff test in Valerii Strungari, and the Moldovan delivered one. However, Denkriangkrai passed with flying colors, banking a unanimous decision to run his winning streak to five and cement himself as one of the hottest names in the weekly event series.
Strungari was aggressive from the opening bell, shooting forward with body shots and forcing the Thai to absorb early punishment. Denkriangkrai stayed calm, working knees and elbows to neutralize the pressure and establish his own rhythm.
When the Moldovan landed a heavy body shot in the second, the Thai did not flinch. Instead, he retaliated with stabbing knees to the head and body that took the wind out of his rival.
The third round saw Denkriangkrai open up in search of a finish, but Strungari remained upright and swinging. The Moldovan showed heart, pushing forward with knees and punches right to the final bell. It was not enough, though.
Denkriangkrai's cleaner work, sharper counters, and trademark knees swayed the judges. The Thai earned his 62nd career win and could be knocking on the door of a life-changing contract.
